Our Story

After teaching in both Public and Private schools for more than 30 years each, Peter and Julia Gichuru simply couldn’t stop giving. They decided to build a school on their own farm, where they could nurture and inspire the next generation of Kenyan leaders.

Jupiter Junior School was officially opened in May 2010 with only 30 students. However, the school’s excellent reputation quickly spread and enrollments doubled in less than 6 months. This gives a clear indication of the local demand for quality education. The Gichurus expect more than 100 pupils to join them at the commencement of the 2011 term.

The school is located on the quiet, rural Western foothills of Mount Kenya, approximately 10km east of the town of Naro Moru, and 180km north of Nairobi. The 15 acre farm provides an abundance of fresh and healthy vegetables, such as kale, potatoes, maize and much more… Therefore, all of the children are guaranteed to have a nourishing, hot lunch each day. For those who come from underprivileged backgrounds, this may be the most substantial meal of their day.
